Outbuildings and conservatories
What does it mean if the pool plant room was not entered?
It means the plant was not inspected: pumps, heaters, electrics and whatever is stored in there were not assessed. Not inspected is not a pass for the pool and not a pass for the house. If you need the room described, agree access, because silence is not a working plant.

What is the fuller explanation?
Plant rooms are locked because they are wet, chemical and easy to exclude from a house survey. The surveyor should say they did not go in, not leave the pool off the limitations and hope you assume it is fine. A standard inspection does not lift covers or test pumps. The Level 1 scope is a limited visual inspection, and a shut door ends it.
The house can be dry while the plant room is flooding the back wall, or the plant can be irrelevant to the house. You only know which if someone looked. Do not drink from the pool as a test, and do not switch equipment on during a viewing. Chemicals and electrics are not a home-survey judgement. A cover on the water tells you nothing about the room behind the changing bench.
What should you ask your surveyor?
- Why was the plant room not entered?
- Did you see any clue outside it: a leak, a smell, a stained wall?
- Are you rating the pool equipment, or marking it not inspected?
What are the typical next steps?
- Ask the seller for access if the pool is part of why you are buying.
- Do not tell an insurer the plant was surveyed.
- Keep the house ratings separate until someone has seen the plant.
Costs vary with the building and with who you instruct. Where this page does not cite a published figure, ask the surveyor, a relevant specialist, or your solicitor for a written quote. Do not treat a forum average as the price.

Does a clean pool mean the plant is sound?
No. Clear water is not an inspection of the pumps or the electrics.
Is the plant room an outbuilding the survey can ignore?
It can be outside what was seen. It should not be rewritten as inspected. Ask for the limit in writing.
